Acadia University is a predominantly public university located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The Wolfville Campus houses the Acadia University Archives and Acadia University Art Gallery.

Acadia offers more than 200 degrees in the Colleges of Arts, Pure and Applied Sciences, Professional Studies, and Theology. The student-faculty ratio is 15:1 and the average class size is 28. Open Acadia offers correspondence and distance learning courses.

In the 2022 MacLean Guide to Canadian Universities, Acadia was ranked fifth in the category of Canadian universities “primarily undergraduate” for publication. Acadia is organized into four faculties: Arts, Pure and Applied Sciences, Professional Studies, and Theology. Each college is divided into departments and schools specialized in the fields of teaching and research.

Acadia has more than 15 research centers and 6 research chairs. Undergraduates have the opportunity to participate in many research opportunities in a small university environment. The Graduate Research and Graduate Studies Department is separate from the Colleges and supervises graduate students as well as research programs at Acadia.

Acadia’s research programs explore coastal environments, ethnic and cultural diversity, social justice, environmental monitoring and climate change, regulatory relationships, data mining, the impact of digital technologies, and lifestyle choices that contribute to health and wellness.

Acadia research centers include the Tidal Energy Institute, the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics, and Beaubassin Field Station. Applied research opportunities include research with local wineries and grape growers, and alternative pest control techniques and techniques.
