Diponegoro UNDIP University is a public university in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. It was founded in 1957 as a private university by the Semarang University Foundation, which later became a public university in 1960, and was named after the Javanese Prince Diponegoro. It is a leading institution of higher education institutions in Indonesia and the first and oldest educational institution in Central Java. Nationally, Undip is ranked sixth in the 2017 Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education rankings and is one of the top 1000 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings.

The Diponegoro University International Office (DIO) is part of the university’s management system and provides services to international students, scholars and other university partners. DIO would like to minimize the difficulties they encounter upon their arrival and later during their stay in the Undip.

This Scholarship is available for international students from all over the world.

Diponegoro University Funded Scholarship to Study in Indonesia:

Undip Scholarships are offered to international students who wish to pursue a master’s program taught in English. Upon completion of the study, the Undip Scholarship recipients are expected to play an integral role in expanding the international network as well as establishing collaborative relationships back home with UNDIP.

16 master’s programs are offered. These study programs are accredited with a grade of A (Excellent) by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications:

To be eligible for Diponegoro University Funded Scholarship to Study in Indonesia:

Returning home after the program is over:

  • Winners must return to their home countries no later than 30 days after the program ends. The return ticket will be booked by the Diponegoro International Office. The student must apply for an Exit Only Permit (EPO), as well as reserve the ticket, by submitting his/her passport to the International Affairs Office at least two weeks prior to departure.
  • Winners must return home immediately (no later than 30 days) after leaving or being unable to finish their program due to poor academic performance, violation of the law, or chronic or terminal illness (based on an official diagnosis made by a certified physician).
  • Undip will arrange travel upon the official request of the Dean and the approval of the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs; Return ticket will be booked by Diponegoro International Affairs Office, when booking a ticket, students must apply for Exit Permit only (EPO), so students must present their passport to Diponegoro International Office at least two weeks prior to departure.
  • Returning home for the purpose of research or data collection is subject to university approval (supervisor’s permission).
  • However, scholarship recipients are encouraged to collect research data remotely or work on Indonesian research topics.
    Returning home when the program is ongoing due to emergency or personal reasons subject to university approval (dean’s permission).
  • If permitted, scholarship holders may repatriate for a maximum of 30 days and keep the university informed.
  • Please be advised that failure to inform the University or exceeding the permitted period of departure will be considered as a resignation from the Undip Scholarship Program and, accordingly, the scholarship will be terminated.
  • All costs related to the temporary return will be borne by the temporary return winners.

Additional requirements:

  • The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree (to apply for a Master’s program). International Graduate Diploma Program (3 years) holders can still apply if they have sufficient credit.
  • For specific requirements, please refer to the requirements for each study program in Appendix A of the Handbook.
  • The scholarship is terminated when the student completes his or her studies, fails to achieve minimum grades, or exceeds the permitted period of study
  • Grantees must not commit a felony.
  • Winners must comply with the regulations and laws of the University and Indonesia.
  • Grantees must not drive motorized vehicles during their stay in Indonesia without an approved driving license. The scholarship will not cover any injuries caused by reckless driving or accidents.
  • Once you have been accepted into a program/faculty, transfer to another program/faculty is strictly prohibited.
  • During the coronavirus, students are prohibited from entering Indonesian territory without permission from Diponegoro University.
  • If the winners fail to achieve CGPA 3.00, the scholarship will be suspended by the University.
  • To resign from all courses or from the scholarship program, students are required to refund the scholarship.
  • If students are considering resigning from the Undip Scholarship Program due to unforeseen circumstances, they should contact the Diponegoro International Office (DIO) for further assistance.
  • Actively participate in regular supervisory sessions and other related academic activities all through the program to support completion of study. Participation in academic and non-academic events held by Diponegoro University.
  • Punctuality and focus on passing all courses offered in their program to enhance academic result. Periodic evaluations will be conducted to assess the winners’ eligibility to continue the program.

Benefits of Diponegoro University Funded Scholarship to Study in Indonesia:

  • The scholarship covers a maximum of 4 semesters with the submission of a thesis and publication of a journal (at least one scholarly article) as the final mentor. The journal publication is expected to be published in reputable national or international journals (preferably indexed by Scopus).
  • Round-trip international flight (economy class only) and round-trip domestic transfer from Jakarta (CGK) to Semarang Airport (SRG) for all students. All tickets are issued by Undip.
  • A transfer allowance of IDR 2,500,000.00, to be paid only once upon arrival at Undip.
  • An allowance will be paid for books each semester.
  • Internet allowance is only for those who reside outside Semarang.
  • Health insurance provided by Undip (if the cost of medical services exceeds the amount of coverage, the difference must be borne by the student).
