The European Union’s Erasmus Mundus Program aims to promote quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between the European Union and the rest of the world. The three main objectives of the program are related to the internationalization of students and staff, curriculum and research; Ensure influencing the development of practice in the needs of special education and inclusive education; The development of networks, projects and international collaborative research.
Erasmus Mundus partnerships bring together higher education institutions from Europe and from a specific region of the world. Together, the partnerships manage mobility flows between the two regions for a range of academic levels.
The partnership usually has a legal dimension and is based on some formal agreements and close cooperation between two or more parties such as higher education institutions and may include corporations, non-profit organizations or NGOs. Partners have specific rights and responsibilities. There is collaboration, often described as a ‘real partnership’ where people identify their common interests and work jointly with others especially in an intellectual endeavour.
They often share their professional skills to support the community. An alliance is commonly referred to as a “strategic alliance” and is a close association between countries or other groups, formed to advance common interests or causes.
