Our Research Fellowships and Research Awards allow you to come to Germany to work on a research project of your choice with a host and collaborative partner. If you are a scientist or researcher from Germany, you can benefit from the support provided and carry out a research project abroad as a guest of more than 30,000 Humboldt alumni around the world Humboldtians.

If you want to become a member of the Humboldt family, only one thing matters: your excellent performance. There are no quotas, neither for individual countries, nor for specific academic disciplines. Our selection committees are composed of academics from all fields of specialization and make independent decisions, based solely on the applicant’s academic record. Support is given to people, not to projects. After all, even in times of increased teamwork, one’s ability and dedication are critical factors for academic success.

Whether you are a young postdoctoral researcher at the start of your academic career, an experienced academic, an established academic, or even a global body in your discipline offering Research Fellowships and Research Awards sponsorship tailored to you and your professional situation.

Every Humboldtian needs an academic host. Be a host and encourage your young collaborating partners from abroad to apply for a Humboldt Foundation Research Fellowship for a research stay at your institute, or nominate a cutting-edge scholar of your choice for a Humboldt Research Award.
