The Islamic Development Bank, an international financial institution to support and develop the economic and social progress of member states, was established in implementation of the statement of determination issued by the Conference of Finance Ministers of Islamic Countries, which was held in the city of Jeddah in the month of Dhul Qi`dah 1393 AH (December 1973 AD).

The inaugural meeting of the Board of Governors was held in the city of Riyadh in the month of Rajab 1395 AH (July 1975 AD). The bank was officially inaugurated on the fifteenth of Shawwal 1395 AH (the twentieth of October 1975 AD).

The Islamic Development Bank is a multilateral development bank, working to improve the lives of those we serve by promoting social and economic development in Muslim countries and communities around the world, and making impact at scale.

The Islamic Development Bank aims to support the economic development and social progress of the peoples of the Member States and the Muslim communities of the non-member countries, both collectively and individually, in accordance with the principles of Islamic Sharia.

Nationalities eligible to apply:

Jordanians, Angolans, Ethiopians, Tunisians, Algerians, Saudis, Sudanese, Syrians, Somalis, Iraqis, Gabon, Palestinians, Qataris, Kuwaitis, Lebanese, Libyans, Egyptians, Moroccans, Mauritanians, Nigerians, Liberians, Yemenis, Chad, South Africa, Djibouti, Sahel Ivory, Madagascar.

IsDB Islamic Development Bank Fully Funded Scholarship 2022:

The Bank funds and implements its scholarship programs as part of its overall efforts to develop human resources in its member countries and those of Muslim communities in non-member countries. There are six scholarship programs offered by IsDB:

Undergraduate Scholarship Program:

  1. Must be a citizen of any of the Islamic Development Bank member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.
  2. The applicant from a non-member country must be a Muslim.
  3. He must have a high school diploma or be registered in one of the top 10 public universities in his country.
  4. Must have achieved at least 70% in the final cumulative average in the secondary school certificate.
  5. A field of study must be selected within the approved majors of the program.
  6. Evidence of language proficiency in the language of study must be provided. Language proficiency must also be supported by a document or certificate, for example, for English, a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL or IELTS or a pass, for example, a required level test conducted by the British Council or an equivalent system in French or other languages.
  7. A certified translation in English or French must be submitted for all documents if the original is in another language.
  8. The candidate must not be holding any other scholarship at the time of application and during the course of study.
  9. He must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical examinations after selection.

Master’s Degree Scholarships:

  1. The applicant must be a citizen of any of the Islamic Development Bank member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.
  2. A candidate from a non-member country must be a Muslim.
  3. Must have a minimum of 70% cumulative GPA in the Bachelor’s Degree.
  4. A field of study must be selected within the approved majors of the program.
  5. A certified translation in English or French must be submitted for all documents if the original is in another language.
  6. Evidence of language proficiency in the language of study must be provided. Language proficiency must also be supported by a document or certificate, for example, for English, a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL or IELTS or a pass, for example, a required level test conducted by the British Council or an equivalent system in French or other languages.
  7. The applicant must not be holding any other scholarship at the time of application and while studying.
  8. He must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical examinations after selection.

PhD Scholarships and Post-Doctoral Research:

PhD studies:

  • The candidate must have a master’s degree in one of the fields of study covered by the program.
  • It must have received a rating of at least “Very Good”.
  • Preferably have professional/research experience.
  • He must have a research proposal in one of the fields of study covered by the program, in which he shows the scientific and developmental importance of his research for the community/country.
  • Be medically fit and willing to undergo medical examinations after selection.

Postdoctoral research:

  • The candidate must hold a PhD in one of the approved program fields.
  • It must have received a rating of at least “Very Good”.
  • Have a record of publications/research in the same field.
  • To have a research proposal in one of the program’s study fields that shows the scientific and developmental importance of his research for the community/country.
  • Be medically fit and willing to undergo medical examinations after the test.

The joint program between the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development and the Islamic Development Bank for Technical Vocational Education and Training:

  1. 21 of the LDCs are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, To whom.
  2. Be a citizen of any of the 21 countries listed above.
    He must have a high school diploma or be registered in one of the governmental vocational education and training institutes recognized in his country.
  3. Must have achieved at least 50% in the final high school GPA.
  4. A field of study must be selected within the approved majors of the program.
  5. Evidence of language proficiency in the language of study must be provided. Language proficiency must also be supported by a document or certificate, for example, for English, a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL or IELTS or a pass, for example, a required level test conducted by the British Council or an equivalent system in French or other languages.

  7. The candidate must not be holding any other scholarship at the time of application and during study.
  8. He must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical examinations after selection.

The joint program between the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development and the Islamic Development Bank for undergraduate studies:

  1. 21 of the least developed member countries.
  2. Be a citizen of any of the 21 countries listed above.
  3. He must have a high school diploma or be registered in one of the top 10 public universities in his country or in a member state of the Bank.
  4. Must have achieved at least 70% in the final cumulative average of the secondary school certificate.
  5. A field of study must be selected within the approved majors of the program.
  6. Evidence of language proficiency in the language of study must be provided. Language proficiency must also be supported by a document or certificate, for example, for English, a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL or IELTS or a pass, for example, a required level test conducted by the British Council or an equivalent system in French or other languages.

  8. The candidate must not be holding any other scholarship at the time of application and during study.

Joint Program Grant of the Islamic Development Bank and the World Academy of Sciences for Capacity Building and Technology Transfer:

  1. Both principal investigators (PI and PI2) must be females from an IsDB member country and hold a PhD with good research experience and lead each research group. (Note: The Principal Investigator will be responsible for coordinating the research, providing the required documentation, managing funds and reporting expenses. All TWAS correspondence will be with this PI.)
  2. Any of the lead intermediaries must be a national of the least developed countries of the Islamic Development Bank.
  3. Each member of the group must work at a university or research institution in one of the 57 member countries of the Islamic Development Bank and must be represented by the principal investigator in the proposal. No age limit applies to the scholarship.
  4. Individual young scientists or research unit leaders who currently hold a TWAS Research Scholarship in Basic Sciences are not eligible.
