Radboud University (abbreviated as RU, Dutch: Radboud Universiteit, formerly Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen) is a public research university located in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The university bears the name of Saint Radboud, a 9th century Dutch bishop who was known for his intellect and support of the underprivileged.

Established in 1923, Radboud University has consistently been included in the top 150 of universities in the world by four major university ranking tables. As of 2020, it ranks 105th in the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Internationally, RU is known for its strong research output. In 2020, 391 PhD degrees were awarded, and 8.396 scientific articles were published. To bolster the international exchange of academic knowledge, Radboud University joined the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities in 2016.

Among its alumni Radboud University counts 12 Spinoza Prize laureates and 1 Nobel Prize laureate, Sir Konstantin Novoselov, the discoverer of graphene. Other notable alumni include former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dries van Agt, former chairman of Unilever Marijn Emmanuel Dekkers, influential priest and theologian Henri Nouwen, and First Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. Former students have also won 3 Olympic medals since 2000 (all in rowing).

The Radboud Scholarship Program is a very selective scholarship program. It offers talented, highly motivated, non-EEA students with outstanding study results the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship for a complete English-taught Radboud University Master’s degree program.

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications:

  1. hold a non-EU/non-EEA passport
  2. are not eligible for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee for other reasons
  3. have (will obtain) a Bachelor’s degree achieved outside the Netherlands, have no degrees achieved in the Netherlands and did not receive any previous education in the Netherlands (exchange programmes excluded, provided that they are part of the bachelor degree achieved outside the Netherlands)
  4. meet the English language proficiency requirement for the Master’s programme of your choice
  5. have been fully admitted to the English-taught Master’s degree programme starting 1 September 2023 as stated in the formal letter of admission
  6. are able to comply with the conditions for obtaining a visa for the Netherlands
  7. are enrolled at Radboud University as a full-time student for the academic year and Master’s degree program for which the scholarship will be awarded

Benefits of Radboud University Scholarship in the Netherlands:

A Radboud Scholarship will reduce your tuition fee to € 2,209,- For example: a grant holder in 2022/2023 will pay a tuition fee of only €2,209,- instead of €16,000. The scholarship also covers costs for visa, residence permit, health insurance and liability insurance for your stay in the Netherlands (Aon Student Insurance).

How to apply?

You can apply by indicating during your application for admission for a Master’s program in the OSIRIS Application system that you wish to apply for a Radboud Scholarship. You will then be requested to upload three additional documents: two reference letters and a curriculum vitae. If you already uploaded these documents for the Master’s program application, you can upload the same documents again for your scholarship application.

The selection for the scholarship and the admission to the Master’s program are two separate processes: admission to the Master’s program does not imply selection for the scholarship.
