London is an academic hotspot, with the most universities in any British city. It is home to 18 universities in total, according to the 2022 QS World University Rankings these universities lead Imperial College London, which is ranked seventh globally. It is followed by University College London (UCL), in joint eighth place this year.
The average tuition fee for international students in London is around £15,000 per year, which, while high, is significantly lower than many US institutions. Local students in London can expect to pay £9,250 per year on tuition fees.
Despite this high cost, London has been named the best student city in the world for the second year in a row, according to the latest QS Best Student Cities.
Students who are unable to pay tuition fees can search for funded scholarships offered by one of these universities, which include tuition fees and some do not require an English language certificate.
The UK government offers hundreds of scholarships. There are plenty of British scholarships without an English language degree, with a wide variety of academic fields and disciplines available for applicants to apply from.
UK universities offer over 50,000 degree programs. There are no application fees.
