Tsinghua University (Chinese: 清华大学) is a major public research university in Beijing, and a member of the C9 League. It is also a member of Project 985 and Project 211.
Since its inception in 1911, it has produced many notable leaders in science, engineering, politics, business, academia and culture. The university has been ranked as a top 15 university in the world by the QS World University Rankings, and ranked #1 in Asia by the Asia University Rankings and U Report S News & World Report.
Tsinghua University engages in extensive research and offers 51 bachelor’s degree programs, 139 master’s degree programs, and 107 doctoral programs through 20 colleges and 57 departments covering a wide range of subjects, including science, engineering, arts and literature, social sciences, law, and medicine.

Admission to Tsinghua for both undergraduate and postgraduate schools is very competitive. Undergraduate admission for domestic students is determined by the gaokao, the Chinese National College Entrance Examination, which allows students to list Tsinghua University among their preferred university choices.
While selectivity varies by province, the sheer number of high school students applying to college each year has resulted in overall acceptance rates well below 0.1% of all test takers.
Tsinghua University has a very high rate of enrollment for admitted undergraduate students. According to a report in 2008, 215 students out of 300 students who placed in the top 10 in the 30 provinces and regions tested chose Tsinghua as their primary school, and 21 out of 30 chose the best grades in each province and university region.
Admission to Tsinghua graduate schools is also very competitive. Only about 16% of MBA applicants are accepted each year.

Tsinghua University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong operate a dual four-year undergraduate degree program. Participating students receive graduation certificates from Tsinghua University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong upon meeting the degree requirements required by the program.
The program offers a mixture of theory and practice, emphasizing a solid foundation in the major courses, as well as providing a wide range of elective courses for students to choose from based on their personal interests and career plans.
Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications:
To be eligible for Tsinghua University Funded Scholarship to Study in China:
- Foreign nationals, who are in good physical and psychological health, and who have a high school graduation certificate.
- Outstanding academic performance. Evidence must be provided by (but not limited to) the following document(s):
- High school/university transcripts (if available) (in Chinese or English).
- National/Provincial Graduation Examination Certificate/Bagrut Exam.
- International standardized test scores (eg SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB/other).
- Other supporting materials.
- Language proficiency: Chinese proficiency at HSK level 5 or above, or English proficiency. For those whose mother tongue is not English (TOEFL/IELTS).
- Be 18 years of age or older (by September 1, 2022).
