The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) is a Canadian public research university, established on March 19, 1907, located on the eastern side of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1907 the provincial legislature passed the “Law Establishing and Incorporating a University for the Province of Saskatchewan”. The University of Saskatchewan is the largest educational institution in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The university began as an agricultural college in 1907 and established the first Canadian university extension department in 1910. There were 120 hectares dedicated to university buildings and 400 hectares to the U of S farm, and agricultural fields. 10.32 square kilometers (3.98 sq mi) is annexed to the university. The main campus is located on an area of 981 hectares, with another 200 hectares dedicated to a park.
