The World Bank Group is a group of five global organizations responsible for financing countries for development and spending, as well as for encouraging and protecting global investment.

It was established with the International Monetary Fund in accordance with the decisions of the Bretton Woods Conference, and together they are referred to as the Bretton Woods Institutions. It started its business on January 27, 1946. Its current president is David Malpass.

The World Bank is also an institution that provides loans and grants to governments of low- and middle-income countries for the purpose of pursuing capital projects. It is made up of two institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and the International Development Association (IDA). The World Bank is a component of the World Bank Group. The final goal set by the World Bank is poverty reduction.

The President of the Bank is the head of the entire World Bank Group. The president is responsible for chairing the meetings of the boards of directors and the general management of the bank. Traditionally, the head of the bank has always been a US citizen nominated by the United States, the largest shareholder in the bank (the managing director of the IMF has always been a European).

The Boards of Directors consist of the President of the World Bank Group and 25 Executive Directors. The president is the president, and usually does not have the right to vote except to separate a tie. The Executive Directors as individuals shall not exercise any power, obligation or representation of the Bank unless specifically authorized by the Boards of Directors to do so. With the beginning of the period from November 1, 2010, the number of CEOs increased by one to 25.
